Egads, this is rather egotistical of you, isn't it? Putting that aside for a moment, don't you think this alias nonsense is a bit on the nose?

General Discussion / Percy Speaks Out

While the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel were at their height, I took it upon myself to create an energy food that would sustain our very long-winded, difficult runs. These runs often took up to 6 hours at a time, a feat that is not to be undertaken by those faint of heart, or more importantly, unprovisioned.

Unbeknownst to the League, I sent out these in aid packets, and they became the prototype of the now famous "Snarecake". They are rather similar to redwall.net's Oatcake, but they also contain Essense of Snare, which gives them an extra bite. Without this secret weapon, we would have collapsed mid-run from exhaustion after the first week.

NOTE: Quality of the original Snarecake image is lacking to disguise the Essence of Snare.

I felt it important that the secret of our success be revealed, at last, to you all.

Regards,

-Percy

good cider we bring, and very good bear!

Lol, "a very good bear" indeed. Don't know if thats why you posted it, or if you were being completely random.

I don't believe in coincidence. I did believe more in our community's ability to put 2 and 2 together, however  :D

Edit: Percy please stay on topic....this image has nothing to do with the conversation and it is unnecessary.

I have all of our forum saved as a Word doc. Copy and paste, copy and paste... I'll send it over MSN if you like. Same goes for anyone interested, as long as the rest of the League has no objection to sharing their innermost clan-thoughts ;)

Reg Discussion / The League Bows Out
December 21, 2007, 02:15:32 AM
It has been my pleasure to serve as the leader of the League of The Scarlet Pimpernel over the last few months. I have never been more proud of any clan's achievements, or more impressed by each and every member's participation level and commitment to the clan and its love of the game. First and foremost, I would like to thank them.

It isn't much of a secret that I set out to do what I boldly (arrogantly) labelled as saving RWL. When I signed up, Reg had a total of 25 players, including those in protection. The League was formed with the general role of improving RWL, but with specific tasks to ensure it didn't just remain an ideal. Each week, every member was given a mission to perform that would in some way benefit RWL or its members. Of course, one of the main ways of doing this was to make reg interesting. And the only real way of doing that was to set up a clan that could talk big and back it up. Force people to sign up to take us out, or put fire in the bellies of normally dormant players. So the League were the elite. We needed to be a challenge, and so we were.

In turn, we faced extreme criticism, with calls for our disbanding, some wonderful slurs, and general dissent among the ranks of RWLers. And that was great. If nothing else, we achieved our goal just by getting people interested again. Clan forums were filled up with talk of us, enemy clans were formed to take us down, oldbies came back to sink their teeth into the clan crying out for competition. I couldn't have been more pleased.

But that was just part of it. This board had remained mostly abandoned for a long time. And we got the place buzzing, most of the posts on this board are taken up with the League. All over the forums, posts went crazy, and the stats show it. That was another of our goals, with each League member at some stage being instructed to start new threads in the forum to ensure it didn't all die off, in some cases to write something provocative to spark angry replies. We knew what we were doing.

Who couldn't say that the last month or two hasn't been a bucketload of fun again, both in and out of the game? And it kept going. We wanted the game to be fun for all the vets out there, but we didn't want the new players driven away, either. So at different times, we aided the bottom ranked players to give them some incentive to keep playing. We sent messages offering help in the form of tactics or suggestions on how to play. And we each went out of our way to get new people signed up, or old ones to return. This wasn't a haphazard affair, we were serious about making this place the way it should be.

I made a comment once saying nobody had done before what we were doing. I was called on that and now I respond with this post. Never before have a clan tried so hard to breathe life into this game we love. And I have my members to thank for that, for without their dedication nothing would have eventuated. At one stage, we had over 50 players in reg. That's double what they were when I signed up. No way can we take credit for all of that, but I'd like to think some of it is true.

In the last month, however, League have fallen apart, with school and exams, work, and personal issues taking preference over RWL. We couldn't hold land as a clan anymore, so we made an emperor which was supposed to be less work. It succeeded for about a week. We were a shambles, I had some personal stuff going on, and nearly half of our members died from inactivity. And in turn, the interest level went down, and reg dropped down to less players again. League tread new ground, and made great strides, but is now too stale to remain aspiring to higher places.

I feel we did succeed, we did do wonderful things for the game, the League was a clan unlike any other. It's just time for someone or something else to take its place.

Once again, I would like to thank my wonderful clan for all of their efforts. If nothing else, I had a blast doing this again, and made some new friends despite my tyrannical leadership ;) Thanks gents.

The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel were:

The Scarlet Pimpernel (#174) - Holby
Of Earth Inside (#224) - Blood Wake
Dark Side Of The Moon (#23) - Wolf Snare
Shadow (#6) - Shadow
The Hounds of Ulster (#7) - Volkov
Cathedral Under the Stars (#238) - Orcrist
Nova (#227) - windhound

Peace just likes to push your buttons. We don't have to prove or defend anything, it's already there for all to see. So hush and let them taunt, they may run out of puff yet

Tcah, it's all a bit silly. There has never been a clan that has equalled what we've accomplished. Not one in the entire history of RWL. And there is not a single person or clan that could ever hope to take this game by force, because every little bit of defense has been completely eliminated by its makers. League are the most successful and will continue to be the most successful clan this era given the ridiculous state of the game. So I chuckle at anyone mocking our ways and our weaknesses, because the fault is in the game, not in our skill.
