Well, I am not agree with you about that one, Gorak.

The last few days counts a lot. No doubt about that. But, how good you do depends a lot on your strategy.
- You have farmers that uses the first weeks to farm, and then sell and resell the last weeks.
- Indies can do it very well on short time. But their upkeep will prevent them for getting very good net.
- Magers stores. Longer time = More cash. But they are vulnerable to bezzles.
Most strategies require playing from the beginning.

Even though the magers are nerfed in BOTK, I think a mager will win the tourney at the end. An elf, drow or a mager gnome. Something else would suprise me.

Hello all

In September we are going to have a Battle of the kings competition at Valhall, to try reunite old and new promisance players. You are therefore invited.

The code is still under developement, you can find details here: http://forums.valhallgames.net/viewtopic.php?t=11321 . There is nothing wrong coming with suggestions.

I hope so many as possible of you can play. If there is something you are wondering about, feel free to private message me on the forum. Some of you got my contact info on aim and msn aswell.

I have also made an invitation thread where you can reply that you have got the invitation and if you are going to participate. The thread is here: http://forums.valhallgames.net/viewtopic.php?t=11322

Let's hope that the best player win. :P

Best regards

I think players that don't know too much about other players should stay away from what is being written. To replace with average is just a provocation in my eyes.

I edit many of the profiles out there, but many times I rewrite what's written, so it could fit the standards being set.

Sicarius: Why do you want those things there? If a player is respected or not, or skilled, should not be mentioned. The facts written about the players should answer that a player is respected or skilled. Let the results do the talking. If you write something like that, it would seem very biased.

Thing is, if there are few words about a player, a line with that he is respected and skilled is way to visible. If there is a lot of content about the player, these lines aren't too visible. But still, stay away from claims like that if it is possible.

Guys... I have fixed a bit on some of the profiles at the wiki.

I removed the wolf bite profile because it simply doesn't fit the standard. But, people that knows wolf bite should write a unbiased profile on him with facts.

Making claims about being emperor in many sites in same time looks for me just like a provocation.

So, try to keep the profile simple.

We need to know
- Type of player
- Leaderstyle
- Something making him unique, but in same time isn't brag
- Most commonly used strategies
- Homeserver, other servers with more than 1 finishes.
etc.

This should go for everyone. If you don't have anything more than "This player is a skilled and respected player..." to write, then don't write.

Try to see the profiles from the eyes to a person that has just heard about the promisance game. Would this player be interested in reading profiles about skilled and respected players? I don't think so.

Actually there are some people doing it.

Much good to read there, but players should be careful with the use of words liked "skilled", etc. That word has been way too commonly used. The best thing is to write a non biased player profile. Like I see it now there are many skilled players, and few non skilled.

Playing valhall made me realise how much the players there suck compare to you guys! (Geting killed for land spreading on classic and prevented from winning cc by murders) You're all great! The admins who make the game the way it is, the mods who help to crack down on spammers (like me ::) ) and the players who help out others and make the game enjoyable!Even my enemies are cool since I would have no competition without them( dont get any ideas into your head just 'cause of that...)You all rock! ;)
Well well, what have we got here?

Keep some things in mind.....
1. At one point we had many 100 players.
2. The community of Valhall has just a few of the old timers left.
3. The admins is not making the code, the code is being made from input from the users. Valhall Classic Battle is a code that is very close to the old code that everyone loved to play over there.
4. The skill-level was high, which caused the average valhallplayer to rock in other games they participated in.

Sad to see that the impression is going down a lot when most of the old players isn't too active anymore. I am not that active atm, I just do the neccessary things, like making history, fixing bugs and reseting the games.

About the attitude over there:
- You have players that want to win and is willing to do everything (Even backstabbing allies).
- You have also players that want to spice up the games. And attacks whoever high in rank.
- You have players that want to make it hard for other that is doing much smack talk on the forum.
- You have players that kill just to kill. No real reason, they just kill for fun. (example, Nabata)
- Then you have players that tries to do their best.
- Many valhallplayers are grown up with landpassing. That's not good at all, but if something happens that they are not familar with, like landspreading, this will trigger the players to teach the spreaders a lesson.

You have some people that are getting nutpicked for everything there.
- Jiji, who likes him? Because of his history no one respects him, and do whatever they can to prevent him winning.
- Turks and serbs. Same reason as Jiji. They are just annoying. People don't want them to win. In my eyes they just spice up the game.

Etc etc...

One thing should be clear. Valhall is not what it once was, where the forum always was filled with talk. When I have some more time and motivation, I shall try to fix this, and get old players back. But right now I don't have the motivation and time for this. Not fun to use much time to find ideas when no one are showing interest for them. You see the problem?

A good thing is that SmashZ is on mood for coding atm. So, there will probably happen something over there soon or later. :P

For those of you that do not know who Maw is, you should know he is a fair and good man.  He has assured me that all sites and players will receive equal treatment on the wiki.  He does not have the time to write profiles, but if a group of you want to make a "writer's club" I am sure you can get him to sit in a chat and help get things together.

Wolf Bite

Amen. :)

All of the players here should have a profile. The question is if there are players who want to write.

I will continue working on it.

Will mainly work on things I have control about. Like write about players from QMT and Valhall, strategies, etc.

Other proms I will have representatives for those to write.

wolf bite.
Instead of wasting a lot of energy to debate about your profile, you could start contribute. If you do, others on this site will follow. And, you complain about bars being set on your profile.

1. Your article is not written as it should.

2. You made a lot of fuzz about it.

3. There are other profiles that also need to be updated, because they are short or poorly written.

So. If I shall say something here, is that I am ashamed about your reaction in this case. Most of the stuffs being made in a wiki like this are from vulunteers. We should be very happy that there is something written at all.

There is a lot of work to do there still, but I see improvements every day. As I said, I can write your profile if you want, but my problem is that I don't know too much about you. I got an interview of you once.

What more could be done?
- Make some kind of malsystems that people should follow when writing special articles. Like strats, players, etc.
- Give us some time.

I will try to get with me a couple of interested writers to make content there. I hope I can get representatives from as many proms as possible. That the site soon is 1 year and still few people don't know much about it is because there have never been advertised much.

And... Maybe I should refresh your memory. Do you know how this site started? Promisance had an entry on wikipedia, when a stupid mod decided that the content didn't have many references. They would have references on everything. Come on, promisance is still a text based game, and where are you going to get all the references from to follow wikipedia's standards? What we need is to use time to write good articles, not use much time to find references to back up the content if things tells itself.
So, the part on wikipedia was removed because of this. So, this wiki was started to have a place to have this content. And, with some work this will be good. We just need a good plan.

If someone write anything about a strat, why should he put references to it when he knows it work? Do you see what I mean?

I think I must be stupid, but I don't see the problem here.

Stick to facts and you won't have any problems. There are many writers here, and everyone have a different way to write. So, there are some prom sites that are more represented than others there, simply because players have taken time to write. I can't start writing something about Redwall, because I don't know the players or the site.

What we need to know about you is:
- General info
- Period of activity
- Achievements
- Known empirenames
- Memorable moments
- Friends and foes

If you would like to add more, feel free to do it.

I made a polite offer to all work together to make the site better.  I have seen both Maw and  C4smok reading the topic.  They have elected not to post, but did put evil banners on my profile.  A fact!
I suggest that you stop dragging me into this. What I did was to put some of the information in your profile into talk, because it didn't belong home in the section about you.

We are looking for facts here. Else we would get a lot of people that are the greatest players. How boring would that be? The reason why you got bars is probably that you made a lot of fuse about the content.

I suggest that you get someone to fix an unbiased section about you there, where you follow the guidelines as I made. I would have written something about you, but thing is, I haven't played too much against or with you. So, I can't get a good article without having facts.

Your journal is something we need in the site. If you take a closer look, I have done some edits there recently. So I suggest that you try to get the journal in there. Feel free to add something I am missing in the stratguides I have written. I have tried to keep it so general as possible.

And, don't be insulted if someone edit your profile. I will do that when I can, if I see I can make it better. What you are saying about that many people back you up as one of the greatest is not a fact, but a heuristic. (spell?). A heuristic is a claim that not neccessary is true, but is widely accepted.

Well, I think the main problem is that there are no clear "rules" on how to write things.

- Keep you to facts
- Avoid personal opinions. "Like <whoever> is considered by the greatest player all the time". There can't be something that can prove anything like this. Let the results do the talking, and let the people reading the results make their own opinion.
- Try to keep it non biased.
- If you have a controversial opinion that you feel is needed in the wiki, find something that can back it up. Normally you don't need to put opinions like this in a wiki, so this part isn't a big problem.
- If you have some information, but have problem with how to write it in the wiki, feel free to put what you got in there, and let other do the formatting part. Maybe put the things under the discussionpart of the player.

So, we need writers. People that know the history of Redwall very well, and the players aswell. You can ask yourself that you are going to find info about a player. What do you expect to find? That should be the content in the wiki.
