Reg Discussion / Re: How long has RWL survived?

I'm not sure there is a huge practical advantage, it's just a much more elegant way of coding the game to only use resources when required.

I don't disagree. It's a shame that it would be necessary to remove it.

100GB?!

I guess most games on steam are pretty big, but darn.

I think I should probably work through Witcher 3 before I buy yet another game like that. I am one of the "buy it on super steam sale and never play it" steam users so my collection of unplayed games is probably too big now to justify yet another one.

So.. we're done with the 499 exploit.
Proposed changes for next round:
No aid to players with less than 5000 acres if they have greater than 50 mil net.
Dropping land currently has a floor of 250 acres, that's being raised +1000 every 10 mil net.  So if you have 500 mil networth the lowest land you can drop to is 50k.
Remove Standards under 500.
No Kills.
I reserve the right to make mid-round changes if the above isn't enough of a deterrent.  tbh I probably should have fixed it this round.

For players who can actually play reasonably well it's embarrassing that you have to exploit loopholes.
And having an invulnerable storehouse is not in the spirit of the game, you know you're being asshats.

Also tempted to add a 3 day delay to any market price changes, or spike the market fee for changing price.
The market is not designed to be a storehouse, that's lame.

Anyways.
Do you guys want a round theme for the next round?
I'm open to suggestions.

This all sounds reasonable to me. I don't plan on playing, so I can keep an eye on things on the admin side if you want to.

It's always been strange to me that people insist on exploiting code bugs in this game and playing by the letter of the code instead of the spirit of the game. Who are you trying to impress at this point?

I haven't played it, is it worth picking up? I never really understood what the online aspect would add to elder scrolls. Do you PVP or co-op?

FAF was fully cronless if I recall. Pretty neat. But yea, I had my fill of RWL code with RWL3, I don't plan on doing any significant code changes past this point. I'll help keep things running as long as there is interest in having a server, though.

Actually with chaos and UFA rats can break easier. 400m rats breaks 1b rats and kills 2-15x the targets stockpile per attack. Even failed attacks are ridiculously overpowered with chaos. Last round I failed to break volk over, lost 100k rats and killed 41 million of his. This went on until I could break wth ease in a few attacks.

Stoat losses are much more rounded for some reason. Try it yourself.

I was making a joke... windy said it was about par with all the troop types, but then Lask killed one of his stoats...

The savvy player will notice that stoats are now the easiest troop to break with

He should have thought of that before he killed his general

Lask Frildur surveyed his armies, arranged in a perfect circle around his vast pile of gold and food. His top general, a weasel, approached and saluted.
"We're all set up as you indicated, sir. But I don't understand, what are we doing here?"
"Guarding the gold and food, obviously", replied Lask.
"But sir, there seem to be several active warbands in the immediate vicinity. Would it not make more sense to simply crush them? We certainly have the numbers for it", said the general.
"No, you fool", said Lask, "We're going to sit here and let them throw themselves at us".
"But why, sir? We have no way to resupply, and they seem to be able to produce millions of troops out of thin air without actually having to pay any of them, somehow. Eventually they'll overtake us".
"IDIOT", roared Lask. "If we take any action we'll have to pay and feed our armies. As long as they just stand there the gold and food stay intact. I like seeing all those zeroes. This is perfect. We're not going to move".
A scout approached the two and saluted. "Sir, there is a small force of stoats approaching from the south".
Lask stroked his chin for a moment then snapped his claws. "Wait until they attack us, and only use our stoats to defend the attack" he directed.
"But sir", asked the general, "surely it makes more sense to send the full force?".
Lask eyeballed him, wondering how such an idiot became his top general. "Only stoats can kill other stoats you idiot, everyone knows that.".
The general sighed and issued the necessary orders. "What next, sir?" He asked.
"Next nothing!" yelled Lask. "You now see the brilliance of my plan! As long as our armies are only defending, I don't have to pay and feed them! I'll be rich forever!"
"Sir, that doesn't make any sens.." started the general, but Lask, having had enough, ran him through with this sword.
"I'm going to go lie down on my gold and food pile", announced Lask to nobody in particular. "You all just stand there and defend it."

Mostly I just made troops when volkov bugged me to do it.

Not sure what the second part of your question is about.

Oh, didn't see the open ops. Very strange.

I like the no attack idea

Neither is in a clan.  It was deliberate.  I suspect they can generate more land that way since they restart with 200 turns.

More code abuse, I guess. Narrows down the identities involved, anyway.
